Herod joined President Davidson for a discussion  on the importance of higher education, advocating for Colorado students and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s legislative efforts.

State Rep. Leslie Herod joined President Janine Davidson, Ph.D., on Tuesday for the latest event in the President’s Fireside Chat series. During the 2021 legislative session, Herod’s leadership and collaboration, particularly as a member of the Joint Budget Committee, helped secure critical higher-education funding increases. For Herod’s advocacy and commitment to serving Colorado students, Davidson presented the lawmaker with the 2021 MSU Denver Legislator of the Year award.“To get this award means a lot because we really were champions in that (funding) fight,” Herod said. “My priority was making sure that funding went to universities and systems and schools that really did serve the people and that really fought for diversity, equity and inclusion in everything that they do.”
