In addition to the popular Course Development Cycles, Drop-in Support and Ready Website, the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design at Metropolitan State University of Denver will offer additional programs to help faculty members provide the best possible learning experiences for their students.
Faculty Learning Communities
Work with a small group of faculty and staff members to deepen knowledge and skills on a topic of mutual interest. In addition to shared learning and discussion, FLC members work on personal projects that put their new learning into practice. This year’s FLCs include:
- Integrating trauma-informed educational practices in the University classroom
- Service Learning at MSU Denver
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning fosters a scholarly approach to teaching and engages faculty members in reflective practice in the exploration of a specific teaching issue. The SoTL Learning Community will help faculty members develop an idea or advance a specific SoTL project, as well as build a community of colleagues with a strong interest in evidence-based teaching practices.
Teaching Visit Exchange
Faculty members have much to learn from one another yet rarely can see one another teaching in action. This program partners faculty members across disciplines for informal, nonevaluative classroom visits, offering a mutually supportive opportunity for observation, reflection and sharing.
Mid-Semester Student Feedback Session
Midsemester is a great time to gather constructive feedback from students. In these sessions, a CTLD consultant visits a class for 15 minutes to guide students through a semi-structured process, discussing the course’s strengths and uncovering any suggestions for improvement.
Teaching and Learning Book Discussions
Are you eager to discuss new and thought-provoking books about teaching? Join an informal discussion group to explore a different book or resource at each meeting.
