Each month, the Early Bird highlights a few faculty members who have served as subject-matter experts on timely news topics, providing dynamic perspectives on critical issues.

Here’s a sampling from February: 

Richard Thurau, Ph.D., affiliate professor of Aviation and Aerospace Science, interviewed with Scripps National about the technology and regulations involved with drone operations and what the future will look like in terms of drone delivery services.    

Kevin Kuhlmann, M.S., associate chair and professor of Aviation and Aerospace Science, interviewed with 9News about the newly announced merger between Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines and its impact on Denver travelers. 

Christian Hardigree, J.D., dean of the School of Hospitality, interviewed with The Denver Post about the expansion of boutique hotels and how the Covid-19 pandemic has driven travelers toward the boutique market due to smaller property sizes and fewer crowds.  

Ricardo Gonzalez-Fisher, M.D., lecturer in Health Professions, interviewed with 9News about how the U.S. spends more on health care compared with other countries, even though the number of hospital beds has declined in the U.S. because of growing outpatient care and insurance requirements.    

Robert Preuhs, Ph.D., chair and professor of Political Science, interviewed with Denver7 about how the First Amendment protects free speech but not for instances when acts of violence are expressed against individuals or groups.
