Metropolitan State University of Denver has selected Cleo Parker Robinson as the 2024 Rachel B. Noel Distinguished Visiting Professor. Robinson is a renowned dancer and choreographer and founder of the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. Her career has been defined by a deep commitment to diversity and social justice.

An arts and activism legend 

Throughout her long and influential career, Robinson has used dance to explore and address important social issues such as racial injustice and inequality. She has also been actively involved in community outreach, working to bring the arts to underprivileged and marginalized communities.  

She has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the arts and community, including the Kennedy Center Master of African American Choreography honor and the National Medal of Arts. Her extensive list of honors underscores her remarkable career and the impact she has had on the world of dance and the arts.

The Rachel B. Noel Distinguished Visiting Professorship is a highly esteemed program that brings renowned scholars and luminaries to MSU Denver. Each year, the program invites a distinguished leader to the University to share their knowledge, expertise and experiences with students, faculty and staff. The program promotes diversity, equity and inclusion within the University and the larger Denver population. 

In addition to Robinson’s presentations, the program will feature related workshops, performances and lectures to provide students, faculty members and staff members with the opportunity to engage with Robinson and one another on DEI issues.
