The Metropolitan State University of Denver Staff Senate is accepting nominations for open officer and senator positions, including president and secretary, Feb. 13-March 20. Staff members are encouraged to nominate anyone they believe would be a good representative. Nominations can include personal nominations or a colleague.

Why get involved?

The benefits of participating in the Staff Senate include being involved in University-level decision-making, providing a voice for University staff members and connecting with departments and staff members across campus.

“Joining the Staff Senate is a great way to amplify the collective staff voice, impact decision-making and effect change at the University level,” said Brian Gunther, technical-process and communications manager. “On a personal level, it has opened the door to collaborating across the University with people I would likely not have interacted with otherwise. Contributing to the Staff Senate is absolutely worth the effort.”

How to get started

Staff members are invited to join a Staff Senate meeting via Teams on Feb. 14 or March 14 at 10 a.m. to learn more about what it’s like to be part of a team making a difference for all administrative and classified staff members and student employees Universitywide.

“Being involved with the Staff Senate has helped me feel more connected to the larger MSU Denver community outside of my role and department,” said project director Laura Bruce. “I’ve met people I wouldn’t have otherwise. It’s been a fun way to keep up with everything happening at MSU Denver.”

Nominate a colleague

Do you know someone who would make a great addition to the Staff Senate? University staff members can use this form to nominate colleagues or themselves for senator and leadership positions. Please note that student employees are eligible and encouraged to serve on the Staff Senate. Nominated staff members will receive a Nominee Information Form to collect information for the ballot and verify their nomination acceptance.
