The National Health and Human Services Department has announced plans to end the national emergency and public-health emergency, which were declared in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, on May 11.

Employees are eligible for Public Health Emergency Leave for up to four weeks after the program’s expiration — therefore, the last day eligible for PHEL will be June 8.

Per Executive Order D2023-001, the Public Health Emergency Leave expansion for flu, respiratory syncytial virus and other respiratory illnesses ended Jan. 8.

Employees should contact Amanda Berry, director of Total Rewards to discuss available leave options under the Healthy Families Workplace Act or visit the Colorado Department of Health and Environment website for more details.
