The Health Center at Auraria is now an official Colorado Medicaid provider of medical and mental health care services specifically for Auraria Campus constituents. The impact of this initiative is significant, as the center estimates that more than 8,000 Auraria students are insured by Colorado Medicaid.

“Becoming a Colorado Medicaid provider is at the foundation of the center’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and of our goal to reduce barriers to medical and mental-health care for current and future students, faculty and staff,” said Steve Monaco, executive director of the Health Center at Auraria.

As accessing care in the public sector has historically been a long and challenging process for many Medicaid-insured people, the Health Center at Auraria staff aims to provide a more efficient and streamlined process.

“Our medical team is dedicated to assisting all students in achieving their academic and personal goals by ensuring quality, convenient and timely health care. This new student-service initiative is a significant development, strengthening the Health Center at Auraria’s commitment to all constituents on the Auraria Campus,” Monaco added.
