Check out the online Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema through Tuesday
The event aims to entertain, inspire and address diversity of representation in screen dance.
April 29, 2020
Please join the Metropolitan State University of Denver Dance program for the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema. In addition to entertaining and providing a cultural respite in the time of COVID-19, the event aims to address diversity in representation in screen dance through dancers’ styles, bodies, filmic and choreographic approaches and more.
A number of films will be available to screen for free through Tuesday at sanssoucifest.org.
Join many of the directors of the festival films for an online panel discussion moderated by Michelle Bernier, executive director and artistic co-director.
Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema was founded in Boulder in 2003 with the support of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and the University of Colorado at Boulder. With an expansive definition of dance and an appreciation for highly experimental and interdisciplinary forms, this unique festival exposes diverse audiences to a variety of film, video and performance possibilities.
MSU Denver is a virtual host for the 2020 event, but last year several of the University’s Dance Ensemble students were also Sans Souci Festival performers. The group performed live alongside a film, under the direction of Jeanine McCain (pictured left).
Please contact Nicole Predki, lecturer, Dance, for more information on the festival.
