At its September meeting, the Metropolitan State University of Denver Board of Trustees approved proposed changes to the Academic Freedom Policy sponsored by the Faculty Senate. The revisions expand on the rights of faculty, students, invited guests and staff who serve in an instructional role to teach, learn and discover knowledge inside the classroom and beyond, free from censorship.
The policy also grants these individuals the right to fully participate in MSU Denver’s shared-governance process by freely expressing themselves regarding matters of institutional concern.
Special thanks to the Faculty Senate Academic Policy Committee, which conducted significant research and collaborated with other constituents at the University to craft the policy.
