Help Our Roadrunners “Suit-Up” for Future Careers
New event to help students and recent alumni get ready for the workforce.
January 29, 2018
“What should I wear to an interview?” This is a common question Roadrunners ask when preparing for job fairs, internships and interviews. Often, the follow-up question is, “But what if I don’t have any professional clothes?” Finding the right outfit that is both affordable and professional can be difficult for anyone, let alone those who are new to the workforce.
JCPenney approached MSU Denver’s Career Services to address this dilemma and JCPenney Suit-Up was born. On Sunday, Feb. 25, the Northfield JCPenney store will open its doors exclusively to MSU Denver students and recent alumni from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Students who bring their MSU Denver IDs will get an extra 40 percent off sale prices on professional attire including suits, jackets, shirts, dresses, slacks, shoes, ties and other accessories.
MSU Denver’s planning committee is calling for a little extra help from department chairs, faculty and staff. To further reduce the overall cost for students, donations for gift cards and in-kind donations are needed. If we are able to raise at least $3,000, we can guarantee a $10 gift card to 300 Roadrunners. In addition to fundraising, volunteers are also crucial to the overall success of this event. They will be helping to plan and execute, as well as guide students shopping for professional attire.
