2017 Employee Campus Climate Survey
Survey will be February 27 through March 12, 2017
As part of MSU Denver’s 2020 Strategic Plan, we will be conducting the 2017 Employee Campus Climate Survey. This survey, which was conducted in 2010, and 2013 served as an important tool that helped shape several goals and metrics of the plan. This groundbreaking move for the University’s culture, now, allows us to be part of The Chronicle of Higher Education’s annual Great Colleges to Work For survey.
There were many positive aspects from the previous employee surveys. For instance, the full-time employee participation rate was 43 percent—a phenomenal rate. Even more impressive, over 90 percent of the participants said they had pride in our institution. And greater than 80 percent of the university understood and supported the university mission. These are very high ratings for the Chronicle’s survey!
There were also areas of concern, such as faculty and staff input, fairness, trust, and more inclusive processes. We have taken this input seriously and created or enhaced programs to shift our culture in this area. We established the Ombuds Office, developed a new performance evaluation instrument that uses a 360 evaluation and instituted a supervisory training program. We used the survey results as a road map to develop and implement a workplace bullying policy, offer cultural competency trainings, and created diversity and inclusion learning communities to name a few.
Now it’s time to see how far we’ve come. I ask everyone to please participate in the 2017 Employee Campus Climate Survey, which will be sent to you by email in the end of February. Once again, it will be conducted by the management consulting firm ModernThink, LLC. This is an entirely confidential online survey.
My hope is that this time we will attain the rank of a Great College to Work For in the categories of University Resources, Diversity and Respect, as outlined in the strategic plan. Most importantly, we want to provide you with the opportunity to offer feedback on MSU Denver and its culture. Your voice is important.
