Bio:

Braelin Pantel has worked at MSU Denver since 2010. Prior to coming to the University, Braelin worked in several student affairs departments at other Colorado colleges, including in student activities, leadership programming, international student services, disability services, new student orientation and student conduct. Braelin holds a B.S. in psychology from Union College in Schenectady, New York, an M.A. in Higher Education Administration with an emphasis on student development and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs Leadership. When she’s not working (or studying herself…), Braelin enjoys vegetarian cooking, backpacking along the Colorado Trail and spending time with her family, including her chocolate lab Ghirardelli (‘Delli’) and cat, Basmati.

Bio:

Dave Haden joined the MSU Denver team in January 2017 as Associate Dean for Student Engagement and Wellness. After growing up in Iowa, Dave earned a B.S. in Business Administration at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri and M.S. in Counselor Education and Educational Psychology (Student Personnel Administration emphasis) at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Dave has worked on a number of university campuses prior to his current role, most recently as Associate Dean/Director of Housing and Residence Life at Emerson College in Boston. Additionally, Dave has worked in nonprofit program management and as a movie theatre manager. Away from the office, Dave enjoys exploring all that Denver and Colorado have to offer, playing with his cats, reading, and watching baseball.

Bio:

Kelli Frank was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and has lived in Colorado since 2012. She is one of six children and the first in her family to graduate from college. Before coming to MSU Denver she attended the University of Washington and earned a B.A. in Sociology and American Studies. She then earned an M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) from Colorado State University and hopes to continue her education as a life-long learner. Kelli has worked in student activities, campus recreation, student housing, case management, new student orientation and college access arenas throughout the past six years. When not working, she enjoys travelling, spending time with her family and the beloved animals in her life.

Bio:

Thomas Ragland started working at MSU Denver in May 2015 and has served in both the Dean of Students Office and University Advancement at the University. Prior to working for MSU Denver, Thomas lived and worked in all four continental US time zones. Thomas earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and an M.S. in Student Affairs from Missouri State University. Thomas has worked in student conduct, housing and residence life, housing occupancy, university advancement, and as a workforce development specialist. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys anything fitness related, writing rap music, all things Batman, and spending time with his family.

Bio:

Elise joined the MSU Denver Dean of Students team in 2018. Elise earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology & Anthropology from the University of Redlands in California, but eventually returned to Denver in 2010. Elise has worked in a variety of roles, all connected to conflict resolution in one way or another. Her experience includes working in high schools facilitating restorative justice conferences, working with young individuals experiencing homelessness, teaching classes to adults on parole, and coordinating a youth diversion program rooted in restorative principles. Following her passion, Elise earned her Maters of Arts in Conflict Resolution from the University of Denver. Outside of work, Elise enjoys reading, traveling, photography, and spending time with her family and two dogs.

Bio:

Erica Quintana-Garcia joined the MSU Denver Dean of Students team in 2017. Erica was raised in Colorado and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & Ethnic Studies. She then attended Metropolitan State University of Denver where she earned her Masters of Social Work degree. As an administrator in higher education, she has years of experience working in admissions, advising, and the registrar’s office. As well as mental health experience working with trauma-informed care as a victim advocate and counselor. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Miguel Huerta is proud to be serving the Roadrunners of MSU Denver. As a Chicano who was born and raised in Denver, he is thrilled to be home after 6 years of working and living in Philadelphia. Miguel attained a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a certificate in Trauma Informed Practices from Bryn Mawr School of Social Work. Miguel was the first college graduate in his family with a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Miguel is a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Move Mountains Project in San Luis, Colorado. He is also an alum of the New Leaders Council and a founding Fellow of the League of Creative Interventionists. This poet aspires to catalyze self­-empowerment and community action through art and an understanding of human heritage.

Alicia Milanowski began working as the Temporary Case Manager at MSU Denver in March 2019. Prior to beginning her role at MSU Denver, Alicia served as the Coordinator for Basic Needs & CARE at California State University Channel Islands, where she also earned her B.A. in Liberal Studies and M.A. in Education with an emphasis in Higher Educational Leadership. Alicia has a passion for serving students in need and assisting them in meeting their educational and professional goals. In her spare time, Alicia loves spending quality time with friends and family, going on fun adventures to explore beautiful Colorado and practicing yoga.

Bio:

Monica Simpson is a proud MSU Denver graduate and is honored to serve her fellow Roadrunners. She has volunteered her time with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and National Alliance on Mental Illness, and she spent her internship working to spread awareness about mental health and wellness across Auraria campus.  Having earned her degree as an older student, Monica strives to be aware of the many factors that affect a student’s experience. Her areas of professional interest include grief, trauma and resilience and how they are incorporated into one’s personal narrative and strength-building. Monica enjoys reading and writing for personal and professional purposes (now that she has no more homework!), listening to classic rock at high volumes, time with family and friends, and laughing loudly.

Emalie started working at MSU Denver in 2017. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership from University of Northern Colorado. As an administrator in higher education, she has had experience working in student activities, orientation, financial aid, and academic advising. Prior to working at MSU Denver, Emalie worked for a national haunted house company in Denver and a publishing company in Davenport, Iowa. In her spare time, Emalie enjoys going to shows, watching horror movies, and discussing anything about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
