Art + Action Summer Internship 2020
The Art + Action Summer Internship at the Center for Visual Art brings together students who are interested in creative careers from all over the Denver metro area. They make art to share with the public, meet with creative professionals from a wide range of industries, and build personal and professional skills and networks. The program is meant to provide an introduction into an art world that can appear mysterious and even impenetrable to those outside it.
Led by CVA's Education Manager Katie Taft, along with this year's guest artist Rick Griffith, Design Director at Matter, this paid internship gives teens an inside look at many different careers in the arts while providing them the opportunity to work one on one with creative mentors to develop their individual art practice. In previous years, the intern's final projects have been showcased to an audience of thousands during CVA's annual summer party on the first Friday in August. However, this year's format had to adapt to our changing times and the interns worked together with their mentors to create a book that illustrates their exploration of this summer's theme, autoethnography.
CVA is pleased to present the creative work of these amazing teens through the end of September. Take some time to look through the digital copy of the intern's book and explore the final artwork and statements for each artist.
