CVA Staff Favorite: Danielle
We asked CVA gallery assistant Danielle about her favorite work in Sangre Colorado: Carlos Frésquez Mid-Career Survey. Her favorite, El Corrido Cosmica, is a work in which Frésquez depicts a non-linear universe with historical art references and pop culture icons. This work is part of a series Carlos calls “Ancient Future” which explores the icons of both of the cultures Carlos identifies with, Chicano and American. Carlos describes Ancient Future as, "Looking back at ancient imagery , utilizing current imagery...[and] looking ahead... at what I’m going to create next."
