About the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design

The Metropolitan State University of Denver Center for Teaching, Learning and Design (CTLD) is dedicated to providing professional learning resources and activities designed to help all faculty flourish as teachers, scholars, and colleagues. The Center strives to create and facilitate an academic climate where faculty partner with faculty so that all may reach their full professional potential.

The Center's core values closely align with MSU Denver’s institutional vision of being recognized as the preeminent public urban university in the nation.

  • Academic Excellence: Strengthen the academic climate by raising awareness of current developments in teaching and learning, research and scholarly publishing, and leadership and service.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Foster inclusive cross-disciplinary collaboration by facilitating the sharing of resources, skills, and knowledge across programs and partnering with other professional units.
  • State-of-the-Art Teaching and Learning:  Promote, sustain, and support state-of-the-art teaching and learning initiatives at the institutional level.
  • Early Career Development: Support the development of early career faculty professionals and their integration and inclusiveness into the campus community.

The CTLD accomplishes this mission through a variety of initiatives that include, but are not limited to, faculty learning communities, peer instructional coaching, workshops on teaching and learning, and faculty institutes. The CTLD is also available for one-on-one consulting for any faculty member who seeks input and assistance in any area of their professional lives.

The CTLD relies upon the expertise and insights of the Advisory Council members, made up of Faculty from across campus.

The CTLD welcomes input from faculty with proposals for how the Center can further the educational mission of MSU Denver.
