Virtual Personal Effectiveness Workshops
Temporary Uncertainties: Navigating the Disappointments, Disillusionment, and Frustrations of Dreams Deferred in a COVID World
This is a workshop for students who are trying to come to terms with the diminished sense of control ushered in by COVID-19. There will be opportunity to process unexpected interruptions in academic, personal, and social plans; dealing with real or anticipatory losses; and finding ways to reassess, rebuild, and carve out new paths again toward promise and fulfillment.
Facilitator: Gail Bruce-Sanford, Ph.D., Staff Psychologist
Date/Time: Thursday, February 25th, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Register
Dealing with Loneliness and Social Isolation During the Pandemic
The requirements for social distancing and virtual events can seem quite daunting to some. As social beings we are used to interpersonal connectedness with family members, relatives, friends, colleagues and peers. The deeper bonds of face-to-face interactions are not possible with the electronic frames and barriers of virtual meetings and activities. This workshop will shed light on managing the tougher emotions that are stirred up by unwanted isolation and offer insights for valuing time with self and cherishing remote interactions.
Facilitator: Ray Gornell, Psy.D., Staff Psychologist
Date/Time: Wednesday, February 24th, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Register
Taming the Inner Critic
Most of us are familiar with nagging thoughts that tell us we are not good enough, that cast doubt on our goals, and undermine our accomplishments. We can learn how to buffer imposter feelings with kindness. This workshop provides simple tools for responding in a kind, compassionate way to critical thoughts. Learn how to stop being so hard on yourself and cultivate greater self-compassion.
Facilitator: Caela Day, Psy.D., Staff Psychologist

Dream Interpretation
Have you ever wondered what your dreams mean? Do you have the same dream repeatedly and wonder why? Do you wake up from a dream and think, "That was crazy!"? People have been assigning meaning to dreams as long as we have been having dreams. They can be vivid, powerful, or just plain weird. But they almost always provide a window into our subconscious. Come to this workshop and take a look through that window.
