Convocation: Roadrunner Rally

Convocation: Roadrunner Rally

Thursday, August 15, 2019 | 6:30 – 8:30 PM

This is the official welcome for all new students and the start of their college career. This kick-off event serves as a "bookend" to each student's academic journey, with Convocation: Roadrunner Rally as the opening ceremony and commencement as the final goal. The ceremony remarks will include a welcome from MSU Denver President Dr. Janine Davidson and from an alumni keynote speaker. This is an opportunity for incoming students to come together for their first official university event.

Join us for an evening of fun activities, free food, scholarship drawings, and an opportunity to meet other members of the MSU Denver community.

Parents, families and other members of new students' support system are also invited, so together we can celebrate the start of their college career. Continuing MSU Denver students are also invited to help us welcome new Roadrunners to campus.

Alumni Keynote: Gary Striewski

Gary Striewski ‘10, Journalism | Host | ESPN

Gary Striewski launched his broadcast career making public-address announcements at Thornton Middle School. Today, the 2010 journalism graduate finds himself living out his childhood dream as a host at ESPN. During his time at MSU Denver, he worked with Met Media and interned at Fox affiliate KDVR with sports anchor Chris Tanaka. Following graduation, Striewski cut his TV teeth at the CBS affiliate in Cheyenne, Wyoming; earned an Emmy for his work as a Red Sox sideline reporter at New England Sports Network; and woke up at 2:30 a.m. to co-host the nationally syndicated morning show "Morning Dose." In 2018, ESPN came calling, looking for help with their newly launched SportsCenter Snapchat program. Striewski credits being open to opinions and coaching, honing a unique voice, never saying no to an opportunity and earning his degree at MSU Denver as factors in his success.
