Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Colorado and increased restrictions from the City and County of Denver, the drive-thru distribution event planned for Nov. 16-19 has been canceled. We apologize for the change in plans but made this decision with safety as the top consideration.

You will still receive your diploma covers, honors cords (if applicable) and alumni gifts in the mail. Please provide your address here to ensure the items reach you.

A Letter From Dr. Davidson

Dear Roadrunners,

Throughout the past several monthswe’ve weighed the ongoing COVID-19 crisis against all potential options for your fall 2020 Commencement ceremony, with the hope of coming together in person to mark this milestone moment in your academic career. It is with great disappointment that I write to let you know that we will not be able to host an in-person ceremony this December. Due to state and city mandates imposed on large gatherings and venue restrictions, we simply cannot conduct a ceremony as usual. I know this is heartbreaking news for many of you, and I share in that sadness.

With that said, we are still moving forward with a robust virtual ceremony for your fall 2020 graduating class, which will take place Friday, Dec. 11. We have an amazing team doing everything in their power to re-create the Commencement experience online, and I am excited about their plans to recognize each of you. More details will be coming soon, but if you have questions or feedback, please reach out to our Commencement team at

I want to thank you for your continued patience and resiliency in the face of all the challenges this year has broughtIt is extremely important to me and the entire Metropolitan State University of Denver community that we exuberantly celebrate your accomplishments as Roadrunners in December. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation.

Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
