Fall 2021 Ceremony

The Fall 2021 commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021 at the Colorado Convention Center.

Morning Ceremony

College of Business and College of Health and Applied Sciences will begin at 9 a.m.

Afternoon Ceremony

College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, School of Education and the School of Hospitality will begin at 2 p.m.

Each Ceremony is approximately 2 hours long. It is recommended that graduates arrive 90 minutes prior to the start of their ceremony.

Both ceremonies will be hosted at the Colorado Convention Center (700 14th Street, Denver, CO 80202). Parking garages can be found near the venue, otherwise we recommend taking the RTD light rail.

Graduate RSVP

Graduates must register the event through MarchingOrder. The registration link will open no later than Oct. 15, 2021. During registration, you will receive your digital name card, which will be used by the commencement proclaimers to read your name during the ceremony. You will also be allocated 5 guest tickets that you can send to your family and friends.

Due to the limited capacity of the Colorado Convention Center, each graduate is limited to 5 guests. Tickets will be allocated when the student RSVPs for the event. As we get closer to the event, more tickets will be released if there are extras available. All guests should be seated no later than 20 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. Tickets will be scanned before guests enter the Mile High Ballroom.

COVID Protocols

Masks will be required indoors at the Colorado Convention Center. Dependent on the City and State guidelines, the protocols are subject to change. As the pandemic continues to evolve, the details and logistics of the commencement ceremonies are also subject to change.

Commencement Policies

Traditionally, Commencement is the high point of the academic year and is the most dignified of academic ceremonies. To assure that candidates experience the recognition they deserve for the hard work required to complete their degree, the following Commencement Policies have been established by the University.

  1. All candidates, their families and friends are expected to remain for the entire Commencement Ceremony. Any unnecessary movement may prevent families and friends of those persons crossing the stage from hearing the name of the graduate read. Graduates should not leave the ceremony grounds until the appropriate time during the recessional.
  2. No one but the graduates, faculty, and members of the platform party will be permitted in the stage area of the ceremony grounds.

To preserve the dignity of the Commencement Ceremony, no alcoholic beverages are permitted. A Marshal will confiscate any alcoholic substance immediately. Further, should any Marshal deem an individual unable to safely participate in the Commencement Ceremony as a result of the consumption of an alcoholic beverage, that individual will be removed from the line of march and not permitted to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
