The Big Move

March 1, 2019

Take a brisk seven minute walk from the Tivoli Student Union to the Administration Building second floor and you will walk into a space reimagined around student career development and success. The move comes with excitement, reinvigoration, and quality changes that will propel MSU Denver into a new era of career success aligned to workforce trends. The Career Services staff joined the Applied Learning Center staff in the Administration Building, which will ultimately align to the vision of the Classroom to Career Hub (C2) in bringing together many important components of the student experience that prepares them for their careers

In terms of the physical space, the building offers the ability to expand and grow along with the Classroom to Career Hub. Students now have the opportunity to practice their interview skills in one of the four dedicated interviews rooms. Accordingly, prospective employers can host interviews in a space truly dedicated to making the transformational connection between our career ready students and opportunity. MSU Denver has prioritized career readiness to provide students the necessary tools to be successful in their professions

Not only does the new location provide space expansion but it also allows for staff expansion. Immediately, Career Services can bring in more graduate career counseling interns and peer advisors to provide more services to students. Additionally, career programming will be more robust with the space to host networking events, workshops with industry leaders, and professional development activities.

With growth in mind, new software has been purchased for resume review, occupation and job search information, and the centralization of career and job information for students and employers. These upgrades will supply students with the convenience needed to make them successful in all stages of their job or internship search. In turn, prospective employers will have one stop to post a variety of opportunities including internships and short-term or permanent positions.

The Career Services move has brought more than just a physical transformation but also a symbolic step forwardMSU Denver is preparing their students to be the most job ready graduates in the state of Colorado equipped with both hard and soft skillsThere is a renewed energy from this move that will allow the Classroom to Career initiatives to take priority by elevating the unlimited growth potential of our students while heightening their opportunities for long term success.
