What is Form 1098-T?

Educational institutions are required to file a Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement, with the IRS and to provide a copy of the form to the student, for each enrolled student for whom there is a reportable transaction. A reportable transaction includes payments received, or refunds made for tuition and related expenses.

1098-T Announcement

GET YOUR 1098-T INFO FROM STUDENT HUB

Your 2022 1098-T is also available electronically through the Student Hub to download and print from your computer by January 31, 2023.

  1. Log onto the Student Hub.
  2. Click on the “Student Profile” button under the Web Services section and log in.
  3. Click on the window button at the top of the page (next to MSU Denver logo)”.
  4. Click on the “Menu” button.
  5. Click on the ” Students” button.
  6. Click on the “Student Accounts” button.
  7. Select “1098-T Tax Notification” button.
  8. Select the correct year in the drop-down menu and the 1098-T form should automatically populate on the page.
  9. Print screen for your personal records.

Electronic 1098-T

Your 1098-T will not be mailed to you. You can access your 1098-T online.

Request a Paper Copy of 1098-T

Your 1098-T will not be automatically mailed to you. You may access your 1098-T online at any time, but if you wish to have it mailed, simply follow the steps below: 

Request a paper copy of your most recent 1098-T*

  1. Log in to the Student Hub with your NetID and password.
  2. Select “Student Financial Services” Tab.
  3. Click on “Request Paper Copy of 1098-T”.
  4. Verify that your personal information is up to date. Make changes if necessary and repeat steps 1-3 again.
  5. Click “Submit” to have your 1098-T mailed.

If you no longer have login access for your Student Hub account, you will need to call the Bursar’s office at 303-615-0070 or visit in person** at the Jordan Student Success Building at 890 Auraria Parkway Suite 150, on the Auraria Campus.

Please note:

* We will only be able to send you the most recent copy of your 1098-T using this method. You must contact us to obtain a copy of your 1098-T for any prior years.

Viewing or printing old 1098-Ts
(2013 or older)

  1. In your web browser, go to tra.maximus.com
  2. If you already have an account with them, simply log in and you will be able to retrieve your 1098-T form(s) for 2013 and prior.
  3. If you don’t already have an account with tra.maximus.com, click on “First Time Students” button at the bottom of the page.
  4. Enter the information required and follow the instruction provided.

Once you fill out all of the required information, tra.maximus.com will email you a temporary password; you will then need to retrieve the password from your email, and re-log in to your account to complete your registration and you will be able to retrieve your 1098-T.

Tax ID Rules for the 1098-T

In order to provide a 1098-T to you for tax purposes, the Internal Revenue Service requires you to provide your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to your school.
