MSU Denver Precision Flight Team
The MSU Denver Precision Flight Team ...
is an opportunity to expand your aviation knowledge and airmanship skills. Each semester students prepare for a regional or national SAFECON; a competition put on by the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA). The flight team and competition are not aerobatic in nature. Instead, both precision flight events and ground events are developed to hone basic airmanship to a higher standard required and desired by the aviation industry.
These competitions act in many ways like a track and field event consisting of both flying and ground events. Flying events include items such as: navigation, message drop, and landing events. Ground events include items such as: flight planning, aircraft identification, flight simulator competitions, and mechanical flight computer written exams. Additionally, students are able to network at competitions and other various local events.
Flight team participation enables students to learn valuable skills and to soar in their academic careers from the initial start while pursuing career goals.
The MSU Denver Precision Flight Team is advancing education while encouraging and fostering safety, excellence and leadership in aviation. We promote communication and cooperation between students, educators and institutions in the aviation community. MSU Denver Precision Flight Team goes beyond aviation competition. We challenge one another and hold accountable all associated parties to the highest of standards to ensure technical skills and knowledge. We have created and honor a rigid set of Core Competencies and Leadership Principles to support each graduate for a lifelong career in aviation supporting all those dependent on safe and purposeful pilots.
The Metropolitan State University of Denver Precision Flight Team is a group of students and faculty dedicated to producing the safe aviators of the future through teamwork, leadership and competition.
