Internships

AMS 4950 Professional Internship

An important element of the AMS Core Courses is the “Professional Internship” course (AMS 4950), which gives our students the invaluable opportunity to work, onsite, at one of our manufacturing company partners. This represents an important opportunity to learn what it’s like to work in a multidisciplinary manufacturing environment on a “real-life” project, and, to establish critical industry contacts, with regard to future employment opportunities.

Yes, AMS majors must complete a minimum of 3 credit hours (total) of AMS 4950 Professional Internship.

The MSU Denver Applied Learning Center provides resources to help students find an internship. To get started, students must call the ALC at 303-615-1333 or stop by the Admin Building, Suite 325 to register for orientation. During orientation, students will learn about building resumes, different programs and get access to searchable database which lists available internship positions for all majors.

If you are a current student and do not have access to the TIP Online database, but would still like to see what is available, please view current AMS openings here

Once you have secrued an internship, you will need to contact your Applied Learning Center Coordinator to schedule an appointment and begin the Application for Academic Credit. Students will be unable to register themselves for internship credit, your Coordinator will register you for credit after the completion of your Application for Academic Credit.

Your application, the internship approval and registration MUST be completed before you begin your work hours.
