How Do I Start?

Applying is easy! At MSU Denver, we look at several things within your application and review students in a multi-faceted, holistic approach.

What we look at:

  • Academic record: Grades, classes attended, etc.
  • HEAR Recommendations 
  • ACT and/or SAT test scores
  • Additional Factors:  MSU Denver considers other things that may have influenced how you did in high school.  We will look at your student and community activities, but feel free to share anything else you think is important.

Secondary Admission Review

If you are below or on the lower end of one or more of the ranges listed, you may be selected for additional review which will require additional documents before an admissions decision can be made. You can login to your aplication account and upload these documents when requested.

  • Personal Statement: approximately 500 words including why is MSU Denver a good fit for your educational goals and explain any circumstances that may have affected your academic performance.
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Unofficial Transcript
  • Unofficial Test Scores

When you login, you may see a request for additional items including official transcripts and test scores. You will only upload the four items above until the end of the school year when official documents are needed. Only unofficial transcripts and test scores are needed for the secondary admission review.

As a GED recipient, your admission to MSU Denver is simple!

What we look at:

GED scores: must be 145 or higher on all four sections.

 

Optional: Request your standardized test scores (ACT or SAT). If less than 5 years old, these scores can be helpful for advising purposes.

 

As a student age 20 and over, your admission to MSU Denver is simple!

What we look at:

Completion of High School

Qualifying GED scores (see GED Recipient tab)

I've Finished My Application. Now What?

You will receive an admissions decision via email and a mailed letter in three weeks or less. To check the status of your application at any time login or contact us


If you are admitted

Prior to attending, you will need to submit your official transcripts or GED score (and official test scores if applicable) to complete your file. Enrollment and financial aid can be impacted if you do not submit, so be sure to request them. If you will graduate from your current institution before you begin at MSU Denver, please wait to submit your transcripts until your final grades and graduation date have posted.
