Accessibility at MSU Denver
Technology Accessibility Initiative
The Metropolitan State University of Denver Technology Accessibility Initiative is charged with Advancing MSU Denver’s ongoing commitment to provide access to information resources, technologies, and related services to individuals with disabilities.
This provides a scope that is broad, but focused on technology-related materials and will include areas such as: web content, instructional materials, kiosk/digital signage, training materials, the online learning environment, the procurement of technology systems and services, and a process for assessing the accessibility of these systems and services. This initiative does not encompass assessment of facilities or architectural barriers related to accessibility.
The Technology Accessibility Initiative will be working to develop relevant policies and procedures, as well as identifying specific resources to assist the campus community with the implementation of these changes. A tentative timeline for the work of this group is:
- Spring 2012 – Draft Web Content Accessibility policy
- 2012-2015 – Development of a campus implementation plan for achieving compliance with Web Content Accessibility policy, including the identification of specific areas of responsibility and resources
- 2016 - Implement evaluation processes, web governance software, account management. Begin baseline evaluation and pilot group assessmenet. Identify and prioritize issues and web sites.
- Ongoing – Support the campus community to achieve compliance with adopted policies, procedures, and implementation plans
