Save the Date -- TLD 2013: Common Ground

Mark your calendars! TLD 2013: Common Ground is coming March 1, 2013 to the new SpringHill Suites in downtown Denver. We are again adopting the format used by the world-renowned TED conference (talks from TED may be viewed for free here: TED.com). The format will consist of a suite of short,

carefully prepared talks, demonstrations, and performances on a range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder - and to provoke conversations that matter. Be ready for some surprising talks prompting you to find common ground among seemingly unrelated ideas, which just so happens to be the very power of primary sources! Focus will also be given to demonstrating the seemless integration of the new Common Core State Standards with primary sources and technology.

National History Day Workshop

After recently discovering that our friends at National History Day in Colorado are also housed on Auraria campus, the TPS Western Region program teamed up with them and History Colorado for an exciting (and, really, long overdue) collaborative workshop. For two days at the brand new History Colorado Center, attendees learned about the National History Day project, and how to access and

incorporate the considerable amount of primary sources available to them at the Library of Congress into their classrooms, for National History Day and beyond.

TPS at the 2012 WHA Conference

The Western History Association's annual conference was held this year in Denver, CO, on October 4-7. Because of this, the WHA and TPS @ Metro State partnered up for a unique and novel series of panel discussions. We also used this opportunity to meet with our grant recipients from across the Western Region on Friday, October 5.

Later that night, we held a wonderful dinner and the recipients shared their experiences and accomplishments.
