Personal Biography Statement

I have taught at Metro for the last 17 years. I have taught many courses in the Health Care Management curriculum, served as the HCM Program Coordinator for most of those years, and was Chair of the Department of Health Professions for 7 years. Thus, I have lots of teaching and advising experience.

I worked in health care for many years. Prior to coming to Metro, I was the Executive Director of the Presbyterian/St. Luke's Community Foundation and did grant-making and fundraising for the P/SL Health Care System. Prior to that I worked as a healthcare researcher and health policy analyst for several different organizations. These experiences have proved invaluable to the management and research classes I teach.

I spend much of my time writing. The second edition of the Introduction to Health Care Management textbook came out in 2012, and a new book, Cases in Health Care Management, is in press and due to be published in 2013.

My goal is to bring all of my experience and knowledge to the online classroom and use it to help you be successful in my courses. I look forward to interacting with you in the online course and assisting you in your efforts to complete your degree.

Educational Biography

My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a master's degree in library and information science from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and a doctorate in public administration, with policy and program evaluation emphases, from the University of Colorado at Denver.
