Educational Biography

"Ted" Jinseup Shin, Associate Professor in Industrial Design, received his MFA Degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001. Previous to that he earned his BFA degree in Product Design from the Yeungnam University in Korea.

Professional Affiliations

He has worked for Samsung Electronics in Korea for seven years where he designed various products, includes Samsung's first clam shell type cell phone that changed their entire production line. He was one of twelve designers from over 700 Samsung designers to be on a special design program in Samsung that made him able to travel many countries where he studied how different culture impact design solutions.


After he received his MFA he taught several Industrial Design courses at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Illinois for five years. Currently he serves as the Chairperson of the Industrial Design program at MSU Denver. Ted's interests are product-people interaction design, cultural design, new materials and technologies, and creativity. He is a member of IDSA and actively working with national and international companies as a professional design consultant.
