Personal Biography Statement
Cynthia Baron, currently serves as the Associate Director for Learning Communities and First Year Success (FYS). She has over 14 years of experience in higher education and is very passionate about her work developing and implementing student engagement and co-curricular programs focused on supporting and retaining a uniquely diverse urban student population. She is a graduate of the Higher Education Administration and Leadership Executive Leadership Institute at Adams State University focusing on Hispanic-Serving University's and earned her Masters of Social Work from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with an emphasis on High-Risk Youth from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Cynthia has been involved since the inception of First Year Success and is responsible for the leadership and oversight of FYS branding, communications, student recruitment, peer leaders, and co-curricular programs for all incoming first-year students, including the launch of New Student Convocation in 2012, and an Annual Latina/o Welcome Program. In addition to her leadership in FYS, she is especially proud of her service on the University's Hispanic-Serving Initiative Task Force, Equity in Excellence Guidance Team, and various other campus and community initiatives committed to serving the needs of underrepresented students.
