Dean, School of Professional Studies

Photograph of Dean Haynes‌‌‌‌A native of Denver, Dr. Sandra Haynes has served as Dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS) for nine years. Committed to the belief that all people have access to education and to supporting each department in SPS, Sandra has helped grow SPS’s annual student enrollment and SPS’s solid reputation. Her vision for SPS is to be a resource in the Denver community by providing a well-educated workforce prepared for the 21st century as well as providing a cadre of faculty and students who help solve the challenges of an urban community. SPS is a resource for the wide range of students, those starting college, transferring colleges, and those who want to retool or retrain in a career.

SPS is well on its way: Just this year 100% of nursing students passed their licensing exams, the Hospitality, Tourism and Events Department created a new, state of the art Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center, and the Aviation and Aerospace Department won the prestigious Loening Trophy for best aviation program in the country. Faculty lend their expertise by working with community organizations, such as helping with the Tuskegee Airmen events and serving on various boards, such as nursing and crime prevention boards.

Outside of work, Sandra treasures spending time with her family.
