New events calendar to debut for fall semester

MSU Denver’s Marketing and Communications Office will launch a new online University event calendar this fall.

The University has selected Trumba—a company that specializes in online calendar tools with many higher education customers—to provide the tool, which includes a host of helpful features to make posting and sharing events simple and quick.

The rollout will coincide with a refresh of the University’s website scheduled for the start of fall semester classes Aug. 19.

A visitor to the new calendar will be able to filter information based on their interests. New features also will include the ability to request an event reminder via e-mail or text message, add an event to a personal calendar, post to Facebook or Twitter, forward to a friend, or subscribe to the event to be notified about any logistical changes.

“Visitors expect to have a choice of how to receive and share event information they are interested in,” says Chris Mancuso, manager of web communications. “Users will know where to find University event information and can choose which events are meaningful to them, how to stay informed and how to share their interests with others.”

As with the current calendar, events must come from an MSU Denver department or program and be related to an activity at the University. Departments will be able to submit events via a web-based submission form and moderation process. The new system will also allow for events to be fed to other University web sites. The calendar will be available from the University homepage, ConnectU and elsewhere on the MSU Denver website.
