Staff Professional Development Conference June 24

Administrative and classified staff members—faculty too—are encouraged to register for the 2013 Staff Professional Development Conference June 24.

This year’s theme is Climate/Change. The keynote speaker is Corey Criswell, a faculty member at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), an organization focused on leadership education and research. Founded in 1970 as a nonprofit, CCL “helps clients around the world cultivate creative leadership—the capacity to achieve more than imagined by thinking and acting beyond boundaries,” according to their website.

Criswell’s keynote, “Your Change Motto: How insight into your preferences can improve your life,” will provide participants with a clearer sense of their own response to change and how change can be enhanced at our institution, says Center for Individualized Learning Director Elizabeth Parmelee, who is a member of the Staff Professional Development Conference Committee.

“We continue to build each year on the foundation laid previously for a democratic workplace and a collaborative environment,” says Parmelee. “This year we seek to provide participants a variety of tools on how to engage positively with the changes all around us which are often, quite honestly, intimidating and overwhelming. We hope that the keynote and breakout sessions will continue to enhance the climate here at MSU Denver.”

To accommodate office coverage, participants may attend the morning or afternoon session: 8 a.m.-noon or 1-5 p.m.  Lunch at noon will be provided to all attendees.
