Academic Resources

Applied Learning Center (formerly The Internship Center) helps students find internship placements in their field. Room 325 in the Administration Building (on the Auraria Campus), 303.556.3290. 

Career Services is a resource for developing and refining the skills for developing resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and job searches. Located in the Tivoli Building 215, 303.556.4035. 

Center for Individualized Learning assists students in creating individualized majors and minors and developing portfolios to earn credit for life learning. Located in Room 360 in the Administration Building (on the Auraria Campus), 303.556.8342. 

Optimal Resume is a online software suite avaialbe to both current students and alumni through the Alumni Association.  The site is designed to help students and alumni build a better resume and cover letter, manage an online portfolio, hone interviewing skills, and develop a personal brand online.

Smart Thinking is an online tutoring service that is free for MSU Denver students for four hours per Fall and Spring semester and offers: Live/On-Demand Tutoring, an Online Writing Lab, help with submitted questions, and 30-minute tutoring appointments.

The Tutoring Center provides students at MSU Denver free tutoring for a wide variety of subjects.  The Tutoring Center offers one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and help preparing for the Accuplacer test. Located in the Student Success Building, 303.556.6439.

The Writing Center offers 40-minute consultations and 10-minute “speed tutoring” sessions for assistance with: essays, research papers, senior capstone projects, portfolios, honors theses, application essays, graduate school application essays, creative writing, resumes and cover letters. Located in the King Center Suite 425, 303.556.6070.

Campus Resources

The Access Center works to provide academic accommodations and support services to assist qualified students with disabilities in reaching their academic potential. Located in the Auraria Library Suite 116, 303.556.8387.

The Counseling Center provides the students of MSU Denver with individual counseling, crisis intervention, support groups, diversity workshops, and assistance with smoking cessation. Located in the Tivoli Building Suite 651, 303.556.3132.

GLBT Student Services is available to all students as a resource for exploring issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. Located in the Tivoli Building Suite 213, 303.556.6488

Be Well Auraria (formerly Healthy Moves) is a free program of exercise and meditation classes sponsored by the Health Center at Auraria.

The Institute for Women's Studies and Services provides services such as college entrance assistance, help with scholarship applications, help in responding to sexual harassment and discrimination, help with conflict resolution, and assistance finding help coping with sexual assault, dating and domestic violence and stalking. 1059 Ninth Street Park, 303.556.8441.

State and Federal Agencies

Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is a professional regulatory agency that regulates professional standards and provides licensure and certification for professionals in a variety of fields within the State of Colorado, including Addiction Counselors.  For those interested in obtaining CAC licensure, the handbook can be found here.

The Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) exists within the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health (OBH). DBH is responsible for administering, licensing, and regulating the provision of community-based public behavioral health systems, specifically the substance use prevention, mental health promotion and early intervention, substance use disorder treatment, and mental health treatment services for the State of Colorado.

The Domestic Violence Offenders Management Board (DVOMB) oversees standards in the management of domestic violence offenders in the State of Colorado. 

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Authority (SAMHSA) provides a locator for substance abuse or mental health service providers by city and by State.

Colorado Mental Health Statute is a set of legal statutes that apply to mental health professional practice in the state of Colorado. Updates were made to the Statute in 2011.
