Required Training

These trainings are for New Hire Employees and MUST be completed within 30 days of your employment!


Please RSVP for New Employee Orientation through the “New Employee Corner”  page on the Human Resources website. 
This is a mandatory training for all new administrative and classified employees of MSU Denver. 
(Faculty orientation is provided through the Center for Faculty Development – see below)

Recommended Professional Development & Trainings

Additional professional Development opportunities and trainings for employees.


Mandatory for all Classified, Administrative, and Faculty responsible for supervising any employee including student workers.

Recommended for all employees who will be entering or updating position description information in the PeopleAdmin system or will be creating postings for positions.

Job Aid for PeopleAdmin Upgrade to 7.0

We have created this Job Aid to assist you with the transition to the new PeopleAdmin 7.0 system.  It provides you with some additional detail about the system and will provide more of a step-by-step reference through the most common actions in PeopleAdmin.  We are here to assist you with questions, please feel free to contact: Jay Allen (303-556-5507 /jalle130@msudenver.edu) or Angie Robets (303-556-5055/ arober56@msudenver.edu) with any questions or concerns you may have.  We have also added some additional training dates to the calendar.  They are listed in the HR Training Calendar, which is also located on the right side of the page.

Professional Development Fund - Individual funds to be utilized outside of MSU Denver, such as conferences, seminars, trainings, and courses. It requires approval from the supervisor. Can also be used for undergraduate and graduate coursework.

MSU Undergraduate Tuition Reimbursement - Individual funds to be utilized for undergraduate courses taken at MSU Denver. Employees are eligible for up to 6 undergraduate credit hours per fiscal year. It requires approval from the supervisor.

Faculty Orientation

Orientation for new tenure, tenure track and Category II faculty.


New Tenure/Tenure-Track Faculty Orientation is provided by the Center for Faculty Development and Human Resources. This orientation is presented in early August, at the beginning of the Academic Year, and is a two-day mandatory orientation for all new full-time tenure and tenure-track faculty members. Light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.

New CAT II Faculty Orientation is provided by the Center for Faculty Development and Human Resources. This orientation is presented in early August, at the beginning of the Academic Year, and is a one-day mandatory orientation for all new full-time CAT II faculty members. Light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.

Information Technology Training

Includes Banner and Site Manager Training for the New Employees.


For New Employees, Student Employees, Faculty, and Staff members that require access to Banner.  This course is a requirement for having an account in the Banner system.

Banner Training 

For Student Employees, Faculty, and Staff members that will be managing or updating the University website.  This course is a requirement for having access to the Site Manager web content management system. 
You may register and access the required forms you need to turn in at the training by going to the Site Manager Training website.

Accounting Service Training

Accounting Services is comprised of the University’s Financial Services, Business Services, Grants & Loans, Payroll, and Accounts Payable offices.


This training is highly recommended if you will be doing any purchasing for your department.  It is also required for Procurement Card cardholders and approving officials. You can find the Purchasing Training online on the Controller Website through the Training page.

This training is required for Procurement Card cardholders, re-allocators and approving officials.  You can find the Procurement Card Training on the Controller website through the Training page.

Highly recommended if you will be doing any traveling as part of your position and is required for Visa Travel Card cardholders.  You can find the Travel Training on the Controller website through the Training page.

These trainings are highly recommended if you will be responsible for financial information and/or financial reporting within your department. 
Both sessions are offered monthly - Register through the MSU Denver Events Calendar (http://www.msudenver.edu/controller/resources/training/bannerfinance/) by selecting “Accounting Services Training” from the Training drop down list on the left side of the Events Calendar.

Search and Screening Trainings

Required every year for those asked to chair or participate in a search and screening committee.


The Equal Opportunity Office requests that all employees serving on a search committee for an Administrative or Faculty position attend a training on the MSU Denver Equal Opportunity Office Search and Screening procedures. This training is required for all Search Committee members and Hiring Authorities and must be completed on an annual basis.

 All trainings take place in the Student Success Building, Room 440, small conference room. Please plan on 45 – 60 minutes.
