Barbara B. Koehler Miles received her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver, College of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas.
She was in the private practice of law for 30 years. She served as a municipal court judge, mediator, and arbitrator and she created a community alternative dispute resolution program for municipal court. She owned and operated the Mediation Resolution Center of Colorado for 15 years. Ms. Koehler Miles retired from her private practice to teaching at APUS. She has been an affiliate instructor since 2011 and also teaches on campuses in Colorado.
She was the director of the Tri-Institutional Student Legal Services program on the Auraria Campus, Colorado. The program assisted students with legal challenges that may have interfered with their educational pursuits, i.e. divorce, collections, landlord/tenant disputes.
Ms. Koehler Miles has participated as a mock trial judge, municipal prosecutor’s boot camp presenter, and law school student mentor. She has dedicated services to legal clinics for women in crisis and advocated for legal services to the poor.
