What is a Campus Emergency

 

An emergency can include a variety of situations that are human-or nature-caused, such as bomb threats, tornados or suspicious persons.

Potential Emergencies and the actions you can take are listed below:

 

Active Shooter

Call 911 from a Campus Phone OR Dial (303) 556-556-5000 to contact the Auraria Police. 

Bomb Threat  DO NOT use cell phones or radios within 300 feet of the area suspected of containing the device.
Building Evacuations  DO NOT use the elevators. Evacuate the building using the nearest exit. Remain Calm.
Fire  Activate the nearest fire alarm. Call 911 from a Campus Phone OR Dial (303) 556-556-5000 to contact the Auraria police.

Severe  Weather

 Find a designated underground shelter or move to an interior room/hallway. Get BESIDE NOT UNDER a sturdy piece of furniture. Stay away from the windows and do not open any windows. 
Earthquake  Find a designated underground shelter or move to an interior room/hallway. Get BESIDE NOT UNDER a sturdy piece of furniture. Stay away from the windows and do not open any windows. 
Tornado  Find a designated underground shelter or move to an interior room/hallway. Get BESIDE NOT UNDER a sturdy piece of furniture. Stay away from the windows and do not open any windows. 
Power Outage  Move cautiously to a lighted area. Check the AHEC website for more information.
Suspicious Person  Call 911 from a Campus Phone OR Dial (303) 556-556-5000 to contact the Auraria Police.
Snow Closure  Call the 24 hour hotline at (303) 556-2401 for status on snow closures.
