Looking for premier places to display your art? How about the Student Success Building and the Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center?
Submissions are being accepted from Metro State students, faculty, staff and alumni who would like to display their artwork in the College’s new buildings.
Both buildings are set to open in 2012, but the preparations for the art project began about a year ago as a way to “include as many departments on campus as we could,” says Associate Chair and Associate Professor of Hospitality, Tourism and Events Chad Gruhl. “I thought it would be easy, but it is an extraordinary and complex project, an eye opener for me.”
Though he oversees the project, Gruhl credits Assistant Professor of Art Deanne Pytlinski for “doing all the work, a phenomenal job.”
Pytlinksi, who has been at the College since 2002, has worked on juried exhibitions, public arts projects and served as an advisor on the Art Guild. She also serves as art history coordinator in her department.
“I’ve been taking an active part in forming the design of the contest and call for entries,” says Pytlinksi.
The Art Selection Committee includes members of the Department of Art, the Department of Industrial Design and the Student Government Assembly, among others.
