Name-change update: Got U? website to launch July 1

Got U?, a website created as the go-to resource for all your questions about the change in name to Metropolitan State University of Denver, will launch July 1, when the new name becomes official.

Hosted by Marketing and Communications, the website will coincide with a weekly Got U? @Metro column to be published starting July 2.

“We want to help smooth the enormity of the process, and have a centralized place for all the details of this transition for faculty, staff and students,” says Cathy Lucas, associate to the president for marketing and communications.

Lucas added that the Got U? website and column will keep everyone updated as we make the transition, and we hope will answer any questions you may have. If not, the site includes an online form for submitting questions.

In the meantime, here are the latest updates:

Brand Central

While the new formal and informal logos and specifications for corporate identity materials will be available July 1 on Brand Central, departments need to remember that the new email url, user@msudenver.edu, which will be on those materials, will not be operational until Aug. 1. Any emails sent to msudenver.edu before then will be undeliverable and will not bounce back.

IT suggests that you add a postscript to your emails now letting your contacts know to continue using user@mscd.edu until Aug. 1.

Also, please remember that new materials are not immediately required. Business cards and letterhead will not be available for ordering until mid July. In fact, departments are encouraged to use their old printed materials through the 2012-13 fiscal year or until they are gone. All materials must use Metropolitan State University of Denver after June 30, 2013.

Signage

Departments are responsible for changing their signage and have until June 30, 2013 to do so. Marketing and Communications will take care of the exterior flags and banners on campus.

Departments that have digital signs and kiosks should work with Evan Tynan, IT new media manager, etynan@mscd.edu, to make any changes. The new PowerPoint template for use on digital signs and kiosks will be available on Brand Central July 1.

Basic guidelines

For other questions, check the guidelines currently housed on the Strategic Name Initiative website. The guidelines are continually updated and will be housed on the Got U? website when it goes live July 1.
