Kudos

We extend kudos this week to faculty, staff and students who continue to distinguish themselves and MSU Denver through their accomplishments.

AnnJanette Alejano Steele, professor of psychology and women’s studies, was one of eight women invited to participate in the 2012 TedXMileHighWomen lecture series. Her Dec. 1 talk on combating human trafficking was sold out. In addition to teaching at MSU Denver, Alejano-Steele is research and training director for the Denver-based Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking (LCHT), a non-governmental organization that works to develop sustainable and comprehensive responses to human trafficking. According to their website, TEDxMileHigh “showcases innovative Coloradans, no matter the sector, who each give the ‘talk of their life’ around the power of ideas.”

Tanya Gatlin, assistant professor of aviation and aerospace science, has been named coordinator for the Spaceport Colorado Technical Advisory Committee. Front Range Airport in Adams County is the proposed location for the spaceport.
