A reminder: the Great Colleges to Work For employee campus climate survey for faculty and staff members will be held March 11-17.
The online survey will be conducted by the management consulting firm ModernThink, which will send an email that includes an individual password to all employees with a link to the questionnaire. Responses will be confidential. After Spring Break, students will be surveyed on their experience at the University.
Three years ago, the Great Colleges to Work For survey, sponsored by The Chronicle of Higher Education and ModernThink, garnered a 43 percent participation rate by MSU Denver—18 percent over the norm. The new survey will contain the same questions as the last one so the results can be compared against important benchmarks set three years ago. Those benchmarks will help MSU Denver determine how much progress the University has made in addressing issues identified last time and whether new issues have emerged.
“We heard you. We reacted to you. Andwe want to hear from you again,” says Myron Anderson, associate to the president for diversity and chair of a task force overseeing the 2013 survey. He cites several improvements that were made as a direct result of the 2010 survey such as hiring an ombuds officer (G. Michael Kirkpatrick started March 1) and requiring supervisory training.
He said the purpose is to take employees’ pulse on issues such as professional development, leadership, diversity, institutional pride, communication and collaboration, job satisfaction and more.
