The MSU Denver menís basketball team will play for the South Central Regional championship Tuesday, March 19, after making quick work of their first two opponents this weekend. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. in the Auraria Event Center.
The No. 3-nationally ranked Roadrunners (29-2) will meet the Rattlers of St. Maryís University (San Antonio, Texas). The Rattlers are ranked No. 23 nationally and have a 23-7 record.
The MSU Denver Alumni Association is hosting a 5-6:30 p.m. pre-game social with free pizza, beverages and complimentary game tickets for faculty and staff in the Alumni Relations suite, SSB 350.
If you unable to pick up a free ticket at the alumni association social, you can buy tickets at the Auraria Event Center box office. Admission is $10 for adults and$5 for students with valid ID andseniors. Children 2 years old and under are admitted free.
In Sundayís 66-60 win against Midwestern State University (Wichita Falls, Texas) Jonathon Morse became the sixth player in MSU Denver history to score at least 1,500 points in his career, moving him into fifth place all time by the end of the game at 1,509 points. He also became the first player in school history to pull down 1,000 rebounds in his career.
The womenís basketball team ended their season at 22-9 after falling to Midwestern State University 52 to 66 on Friday in Grand Junction. This was the third straight season that the Roadrunners had a NCAA II tournament berth.
