Career Assessments

Career assessments can be a great way for you to explore your interests and personality so that you can make informed choices about your major and career path.  These assessments will not tell you what to do, but will help you better understand why you might look into some specific possibilities.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI)

You must pay your test fees in advance online or in Career Services, Tivoli 215, before you sign up on JobLink for an interpretation session to get your results!

  • Identify personality characteristics so you can better understand your work habits
  • Learn what your decision-making and communications styles are
  • Find out about your preferred work environments
  • Learn about potential majors and jobs
  • Review your results in a 90-minute workshop with discussion
  • It takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete the MBTI. It is not a timed assessment
  • Scoring fees apply.

 

Strong Interest Inventory®

You must pay your test fees in advance in Career Services, Tivoli 215, before you sign up on JobLink for an interpretation session to get your results!

  • Identify your interests related to majors and careers
  • Learn about balancing life and work
  • Review your results in a 90-minute workshop with discussion
  • It takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete the SII.  It is not a timed assessment.     
  • Scoring fees apply.

Pay for your assessments online

Once you have paid for the exam, you can Complete the Assessments Online (MBTI® and/or SII®).


  1. Current students can pay assessment fees online with a Visa, Mastercard, Discover or JBC Card. You'll need your 900# available. If you are paying by cash or check, please complete the Customized Service Record form for the Career Assessments (also available in Tivoli 215) and pay the appropriate fee (see FEES below). Bring it to Tivoli 215, or mail it to MSU Denver Career Services at: Campus Box 68, PO Box 173362, Denver, CO 80217-3362. When the Customized Service Record is received, with payment, we will provide instructions on how to complete the assessments online, including a username and password, and a receipt.

    *Alumni who graduated more than 1 year ago can take career assessments through the Office of Alumni Relations.

    Cash or check are accepted. Credit cards (Visa or MasterCard) are accepted only with valid ID. Please keep in mind that Career Services will keep your assessment results on file for one year. After one year, your results will be purged. As we incur costs by purchasing the inventory for you to take online, there are no refunds.

  3. Once you have paid, you will be given an instruction sheet for completing the assessment(s).

  4. Take the assessment(s) online. 

  5. When finished with each assessment, click on "SUBMIT RESPONSES" at the bottom of the page for each test.

  6. Once you've taken the assessments, access the schedule of the 1 hour 30 min small-group interpretation workshop dates and times. Please make an advance 48-hour reservation, which is required. Please sign up in person or by telephone, (303) 556-3664. All workshops are held in Tivoli 215.

  7. After the workshop is completed, upon request, you may schedule a 1-hour appointment for individual career counseling and/or follow-up session.
