Description: This year's tribute to Lalo Delgado, best known as Colorado’s activist poet and considered the national grandfather of the Chicano literature movement, features poets Molina Speaks and Dominique Ashaheed. Molina Speaks is a critically acclaimed poet, hip hop and performance artist. Dominique Ashaheed is the record-holder of two national Poetry Slam titles and has worked as an educator, cultural media director and children’s advocate. She won the Women of the World Poetry Slam Championship and is the current non-profit director for Peace Jam.

The day will begin with a blessing ceremony at 9:00 a.m. by Aztec Troupe Huitzilopotchli. The event includes poetry recited by Delgado’s great-grandchildren, Sandra Doe and Renee Rudderman and poets Jesse Ramirez and Daniel Stange. The event includes a free continental breakfast and lunch.
